Why Buy This Book?
It's a good read: For those interested in QPR, and all that happened at the club between 1939 and 1970, it's a wealth of insights and personal memories. It deserves a place on the bookshelf of any QPR supporter, and makes a great, reasonably priced gift.
It's for a GREAT cause: When you buy a copy, you pay £5.00 for the book, plus postage. The entire £5.00 goes to support QPR In The Community Trust, and in particular the Tiger Cubs football team for children with Down's Syndrome.
If the entire £5.00 goes to the Trust, who's paying for the printing?: The author (John "Gramps" Clifford) and a few friends have donated the funds necessary to print and bind the book. Gramps does the printing and binding himself, so there is no printing company involved. Andy Evans at QPR In The Community Trust provided £100 to help the project grow to where it is today.
I live in the UK. How much does the book cost?: Five pounds plus £2.70 p&p. Please place your order here.
I live outside the UK. How much does the book cost?: Five pounds plus the relevant postage to your part of the world. For international postage rates and other special orders please e-mail John at john@qprtheolddays.com or call him at 01 621 858 090 or 07957 245281
I would like the book in an electronic format: Thanks to our good friend Nigel at Beaten Track Publishing, the book is now available in electronic format for common e-readers. You can purchase the book through Nigel's web site or through Amazon (UK, USA) - either way, the five pounds per copy still goes to QPR In The Community Trust.
How much money has been raised so far?: Over £2300 has been raised so far, plus GiftAid. We provide a current total here.
How much of this has the Trust already received?: Gramps personally delivered £1500 to the Trust on December 6, 2011.
![]() Another £500 was sent on January 4, 2012, followed by another £100. A further £100 was sent on May 30, 2012. A further £100 was handed in at Loftus Rd on August 18, 2012. The total submitted is now £2300. Further amounts will be delivered as soon as they are raised.
What about Gift Aid?: Because Gramps is donating the proceeds personally, the amount will be matched (25%) by Gift Aid, so £2,200 is worth £2,750 to QPR In The Community Trust.
I don't want (another) book... Can I still donate?: Yes, certainly. Use this page to make a donation through this web site, or donate directly to the Trust c/o Andy Evans, QPR, Loftus Rd Stadium.
Gramps, can I help cover the printing and binding expenses?: Please e-mail John at john@qprtheolddays.com or call him at 01 621 858 090 or 07957 245281 to see if there currently are expenses that need to be covered. Any funds above and beyond printing and binding expenses will be 100% donated to the Trust. Thank-you.
How has this web site been funded?: The registration, hosting, site design and maintenance have been donated by Ursa Technologies, a research and development company owned by a third generation QPR fan in Canada.
